HOW DOES THIS WORKSHOP ALIGN WITH NFA'S STATEMENT OF COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY, EQUITY, & INCLUSION AND THE THEMES OF NFA 2024?

  • "Brave Spirit" is written as an homage to Native American flutes and their history as instruments of love, enchantment, & connection with nature. We will discuss how to play concert flute in the style of Native American Flute.
  • This workshop is accessible to all skill levels. Pros as well as amateurs & students of all ages are invited to participate.
  • Improvisation creates a connection between all kinds of players. Attendees will be invited to close their eyes & listen, to "listen twice & speak once," and to consider how this helps them connect better with a variety of people & musicians in their world.
  • The "Brave Spirit" Music Video provides visual inspiration for improvisation. By participating live with Cabe, myself, & the "Brave Spirit" music video, attendees will be creating lasting learning memories.
